Hello! My name is Diana and I welcome you to my shop!

Lovebug's Yarns is a small scale indie/hand dyed yarn business with headquarters in the beautiful area of Clackmannanshire, in Central Scotland. By headquarters I mean our home which is filled with a strange mixture of kids (the Lovebugs) and yarn. The yarn is dyed in small batches in our kitchen and almost always supervised (or hindered) by the Lovebugs. If you follow me on Social Media you'll likely catch glimpses of these elusive (not really) creatures.

Our aim is to bring you a range of colours (mostly) inspired by nature and things around our daily lives in a range of yarns to suit your needs, be it adding a little Sparkle, creating vibrant and bold items, making a colourwork or textured project with more tonal or semi-solid colours. If you're looking for yarn for a particular project make sure you order enough yarn as I might not have from the same batch later on. Should you require a larger amount you can contact me and get a batch done just for you. Check FAQs for more tips (coming soon).

The story

There are two main stories behind Lovebug's Yarns, the name and logo creation and the beginning of the yarn dyeing adventures. It all started around the time my firstborn started moving around (and after my yarn); I played with the idea of doing and selling knit and crochet items, especially baby stuff - it never took off. The name came from my little one's love of the yarn and what we called him then - Lovebug.

The logo came at the same time as my mom was doing a graphic design course and took the challenge; the head of the "bug" in it is my eldest's head in a hat I made him, same with the socks (bug's feet).

The yarn dyeing started as I had looked everywhere but couldn't find a yarn in a colour that would meet my dad's likes. After my second boy I decided to have a try at dyeing with some undyed skeins I was offered. After some research and Youtube videos I tried out some colours with a mix of acid dyes, food colouring and natural dyes. I let my dad choose what he liked and placed the rest online for sale, it sold out soon after. I tried to dye some more and haven't stopped since.

Hope you enjoy your Lovebug's Yarns experience and should you have any question or suggestion don't hesitate to contact!
